The youngest generations were born to shape a new society. They have their own vision and come up with practical, innovative ideas for social and sustainable change. Also for the climate! Young people in prosperous and developing countries. They are the first generation to grow up with the internet and develop themselves into global citizens. By which they have the opportunity to work with young people from all countries on sustainable Climate solutions, education and entrepreneurship for all youth.
A better world by sharing & helping
In 2012-2021, young people from 14 countries built the Living Legends* program to spread social and sustainable change in an entrepreneurial way, quickly and globally. A method based on 4 pillars:
- Smartphone & ICT basic training, so that young people in all countries can use their mobile phone and laptop for online education and international collaboration.
- Online education on sustainable themes and technology by sharing ideas, knowledge and practical examples, from which you can learn and copy.
- Empowerment and social entrepreneurship training, enabling you to develop your idea for change into a local project or start-up , including revenue model with the help of the community.
- Dialogue and collaboration with local policy makers and stakeholders for implementation of Living Legends projects and start-ups and development of future-oriented policies.
*A Living Legends is a youngster between 10 and 30 years old who develops his solution for Climate Improvement and sustainable change into a local project or start-up for impact. And is willing to have his project or start-up copied by youngsters from other villages, cities, countries and help with that.
Living Legends Pop Up School for Climate Education & Entrepreneurship
The Living Legends concept is the basis for the Living Legends Pop Up School with which we can build Climate Education & Entrepreneurship with youngsters.
The Living Legends Pop Up School takes place online and offline, 24/7 in collaboration with young people from different* countries.
- In the Living Legends School, young people aged 10 to 30 work together on their own ideas for Climate Improvement and Climate issues from partners and residents of the local community.
- In these projects** they work in online teams with local experts and knowledge partners.
- With the intention of developing ideas and issues into working prototypes, concepts, projects or start-ups that can be implemented in society in the short term.
- Every month young people organize the offline Living Legends hub***. Here they pitch their projects and current requests for help to a local community of peers, residents and partners. And the questions for help are answered during co-creation sessions. They also share their projects and requests for help in the online international Living Legends community, which is accessible 24/7.
- Every year young people organize the local Living Legends Festival and European YouthStart Event to share Climate solutions and roll out Climate Education & Entrepreneurship internationally, so that more and more young people get involved.
- With the help of social capital and a start-up budget from the local community, Living Legends keep focus to implement their project or start-up, including a sustainable revenue model.
*Currently young people from Nepal, Kenya, Rwanda, Kurdistan-Iraq, Albania, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, France, Georgia, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, Ukraine, Netherlands. **The projects take place inside or outside school (in free time). *** In the Living Legends hub, young people train each other in Empowerment and Social Entrepreneurship.
Climate Education via YouTube Channel & the Living Legends Community
Youngsters consciously opt for online education about sustainable themes, ICT and technology. Online education that they organize themselves by sharing ideas, knowledge and practical examples. This allows them to learn from each other, to copy, help, train and coach each other online. And involve knowledge and expertise partners on a project basis in an easy way.
Climate Entrepreneurship through the Living Legends Hub and Community
In the Living Legends Pop Up School, young people develop their idea for Climate Improvement into a local project or startup. Empowerment and entrepreneurship training are essential here. The Empowerment training gives confidence, insight into your talents, values, goals and skills to stand for your idea for change and to share your idea with others. With the Entrepreneurship training you develop your idea into a startup, including a sustainable revenue model.
In order to make the Empowerment and Entrepreneurship training accessible to all youth, young people developed and tested a basic training program in 2015-2021 with youngsters from 14 countries. This training is given by & for youngsters. They roll out the basic training internationally with the help of a train the trainer program.
Pop Up
The Living Legends School is always online, 24/7. And ‘Pop Up’ in the local community at all places where learning and experimentation can take place in collaboration with local partners. But also Pop Up at schools where there is time to work on Climate Education during projects, internships, minors and graduation assignments.
